Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months she resigned from the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals on the show, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence, her mother, was an exemplary homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family often relied on free delivery of food from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times too much, and behaved towards her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and discovered later she was dyslexic. She was a student at a local Catholic elementary school before beginning high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after failing several courses during her freshman years.
